Dear Forest Glen Families,
We are into our last few days of the 2012-2013 school year! These are busy days and I wanted to take a moment to share some of the exciting things that are going on:
Summer Learning Night
Are you looking for some ideas to keep your child's learning growing this summer? Join District 41 literacy specialists for an evening of tips to stop the summer slide. Children are welcome to attend and will enjoy a story and craft during the presentation. Representatives from the Glen Ellyn Public Library will be on hand to sign familes up for their "Read to Feed" summer program. Join us in the Ben Franklin LMC on Thursday, May 23 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. For more information, open the Summer Fun Flyer link in the "Featured Article" section.
Fly - Up Day
In an effort to give our students a taste of what next year holds, we have scheduled a "fly-up day" experience on Friday, May 24 for our students in Grades 1 - 4. Students in Level 2 (Grades 1 and 2 students currently) will go to their activities with their grade level peers and students in Level 3 (Grade 3 and 4 students currently) will be placed in multi-age groups for their activities. During this hour and a half simulation, students will go to two classes, one Literacy / Social Studies and one STEAM. Literacy / Social Studies students will experience a literacy / team building activity and for STEAM, students will experience a STEAM group project. Teachers have planned these special activities and we hope they enjoy the experience. They will also have an opportunity to meet some of their teachers for next year. (The classes they attend are not an indication of the class lists or teacher assignments for next year - this was a random grouping). We are looking forward to this experience!
May SIP Day
There is some confusion as to when our May SIP Day will take place. The date is May 31 - our last day of school for our students in Grades 1 - 5. Dismissal will be at Noon. Earlier calendars inaccurately listed the date as May 24. May 24 is a regular day for student attendance. |
